Syracuse, N.Y. — Members of the native Karen group marched on Saturday afternoon to name for justice of their homeland of Myanmar. They known as consideration to many years of human rights violations below the Burmese authorities and rallied help for Karen sovereignty. About 150 folks gathered in Clinton Sq. and marched downtown, ending at Metropolis Corridor.
The Karen folks have refugee standing from the United Nations, and have been resettling in Syracuse for about 15 years, although the battle has been many years longer. Together with different ethnic teams in Myanmar, they’ve been violently persecuted by the Burmese authorities, and lots of fled to refugee camps.
